Parental Involvement
At the heart of Liberty Traditional School’s philosophy is the belief that parents have the intrinsic right and responsibility to be actively involved in their child’s education daily. Research shows that the following ways of involvement increases academic success of the child:
Communicating - The daily homework sheet or planner, parent-teacher conferences, progress reports, report cards, and the Liberty Flyer allow for frequent parent/teacher/school communication.
Decision Making – Parents are active partners in the decision-making process of our school by sitting on the school advisory council, PTO, and on school committees. Some of the committees are: school safety and discipline policies, extra-curricular activities, parent/teacher/ public relations, principal/teacher selection, budget, and instructional strategies, materials and curriculum.
Volunteering - We love our volunteers and welcome finding the right task to fit your talents through our Volunteer Coordinator.
Learning at Home – Through our interactive homework, parents are able to see what their child is learning and provide assistance when appropriate. Parents must sign the student’s homework sheet or planner Monday through Thursday.
Parenting – We provide opportunities for parenting support through the district Family Services Coordinator, Sylva Ducharme, whose district office is located on our campus. We ask that you provide home conditions that support your children as students.
Being a member of the Liberty Traditional School Community requires your understanding of the above high parental involvement expectation. Please sign the ‘PARENT PLEDGE’ on page 2 of handbook to show your parental support.
