Our School
Welcome to Liberty Traditional!
At Liberty Traditional School, we foster a challenging, patriotic environment where students are encouraged to take ownership of their academic achievements. Our highly structured, academic culture emphasizes traditional skills and values, helping students become positive role models in their community.
Founded in 1994 by the Humboldt Unified School District in response to local parent demand, Liberty started as a K-6 school on the Bradshaw Mountain Middle School campus. In 2001, the school relocated to 3300 Lake Valley Road and began offering classes from kindergarten through eighth grade.
Liberty’s instructional approach blends direct teacher instruction with technology, collaborative projects, and discussions. With high expectations for both academic performance and behavior, students in grades K-4 learn in self-contained classrooms, while grades 5-8 follow a departmentalized structure with core and elective classes. The curriculum includes subjects such as art, music, library, computer, physical education, and specialized programs for gifted students and Title 1 reading groups. The Spalding phonics-based program is used to enhance reading skills across all grade levels.
Through this traditional/classical education, Liberty students develop the ability to gather facts, organize ideas logically, and use those ideas to draw conclusions—preparing them for lifelong success.
